Letter From The President
Dear Friends,
Friends of Catholic Education, Inc. is a unique organization.
I know of no other similar organization in the country. It exists
because there are people who believe in and understand the importance
of a Catholic school education in today’s world. Each
day we read in the newspapers and hear on television new assaults
on morality and somehow these assaults infiltrate the agendas
of public institutions. As a result, this changing morality
becomes “matter of fact” in the lives of our children.
Morality is either not taught, or the reduction of accepted
Judeo-Christian principals are fostered in our public schools
today.
Parents are our first line of defense but they need support
since their children are in school all day. Therein lays the
importance of Catholic education. Yes, we expect Catholic schools
to provide an excellent academic environment and they do, but
more importantly a Catholic school education provides a sound
moral foundation around which a child’s character can
be developed.
Unfortunately, the cost of Catholic school education continues
to climb and it becomes beyond the reach of more and more people.
This cost burden falls directly upon the parents since the Government
provides little help.
Friends of Catholic Education, Inc. is an independent organization
dedicated to providing a Catholic school education, in Frederick
County, for all who seek it. To accomplish this, the organization
raises and manages funds to construct additional facilities
as needed and to support and enhance existing schools and programs.
We have no other reason for existence other than to raise funds
for the sole purpose of helping parents provide a Catholic school
education for their children. My goal as President of F.O.C.E.
is to facilitate that process and increase our support to the
parents who want a Catholic school education for their children
in Frederick County. We hope you will take a moment and explore
this website to learn more about Friends of Catholic Education,
Inc. and its mission.
Albert E. Edwards
